Kindergarten with Crew-Workbox 4

Workbox 4…..Calendar & Saxon Math

Some parts of our calendar have evolved through the year, while others have remained the same.  Many thanks to two wonderful homeschooling Moms that share so much with all of us newbies….. Confessions of a Homeschooler & Jolanthe at Homeschool Creations

Since we don’t have a separate schooling room our wall space is limited.  I use both sides of this easel.  One side is used for calendar activities and the other has hooks and chart paper when needed.  It works wonderfully!

This is a do it yourself calendar from Lakeshore.  We love it!  It will be a great keepsake to see how his drawings have come along throughout the year.

Saxon Math

I hear many different opinions about Saxon.  We have really liked it.  It has been very hands on, thorough and just the right challenge for Crew.

Calendar work, patterning, coins, etc.  Just a quick daily review =)

This was our lesson today.  Crew was learning about gallons, liters, quarts and cups.

Workbox 5…….Independent Saxon Math Practice

Crew has a workbook that he does one page out of each day we do a math lesson.  It is simply a review of the lesson we completed as well as some spiral review.  He completes the front side for Workbox 5 and the back usually when I am preparing dinner.  I have had other Moms ask if it is too much, but Crew is done with each side in about 5 minutes.

We are sticking to Saxon next year because he loves it and is soaking it up like a sponge!
